Education Outside
The Classroom
What is E.O.T.C.?
Education outside the classroom is curriculum-based teaching and learning activities that go beyond the walls of the classroom. EOTC programmes provide students with access to hands-on experiences that are not available inside the classroom. They offer unique and stimulating learning opportunities that support students' learning and achievement.
An EOTC experience can be ten minutes in the school grounds, a half day visit to the bush, river or local museum. It can be a camping experience, being involved in a hands on project in the school’s grounds or a local reserve, playing sport, performing at a local Kapa Haka competition or dancing in a children’s art festival. Each experience provides students with the opportunity to experience, do and learn new things in authentic contexts.
The Sir Keith Park School vans enable students to access learning activities within their local and wider community. Learning and safety are our foundations for E.O.T.C. planning.
